The Cisco N55-M16UP= is a 16-port Unified Port expansion module designed for the Cisco Nexus 5500 Series Switches, particularly the Nexus 5548P and 5548UP. Supporting a mix of Ethernet and Fibre Channel protocols, this module enables flexible deployment across data center LAN and SAN environments with seamless FCoE integration.
The N55-M16UP= expansion module provides 16 Unified Ports, which can be individually configured as 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet or 2/4/8-Gbps Fibre Channel. With this flexibility, enterprises can optimize port usage and consolidate LAN and SAN traffic within a single Nexus 5500 platform.
This hot-swappable line card allows IT administrators to dynamically provision ports based on application needs and provides investment protection by reducing the need for separate networking hardware. Combined with Cisco’s NX-OS software, the module supports advanced features such as virtual PortChannel (vPC), Quality of Service (QoS), and FCoE.
